Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using the RatePlates mobile application (“App”). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using RatePlates, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. User Accounts

You must sign in with a valid Apple ID to use RatePlates. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activities that occur under your account.

3. User-Generated Content

3.1 Content License

By uploading photos, dish names, or other content (“User Content”) to RatePlates, you grant RatePlates a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, display, and modify your User Content in connection with operating and promoting the App. This license continues even if you stop using the App, but only for content already uploaded.

3.2 You Retain Ownership

You retain all ownership rights in your User Content. The license above does not transfer ownership to us.

3.3 Content Representations

By uploading content, you represent and warrant that:

• You own the content or have the right to grant the license above
• The content does not infringe any third party's intellectual property or privacy rights
• The content is an accurate, genuine photo of a dish at the identified restaurant
• The content does not contain obscene, illegal, or harmful material

3.4 Content Removal

We reserve the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms, without prior notice.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload photos you did not take or do not have rights to
• Upload misleading, inaccurate, or fake content
• Upload content that is obscene, offensive, or inappropriate
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Use the App for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
• Use automated means to scrape, collect, or extract data from the App
• Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality

5. Intellectual Property

The App, its design, features, and original content (excluding User Content) are owned by RatePlates and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the App without our written permission.

6. Restaurant and Dish Information

RatePlates displays information contributed by users. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any restaurant names, locations, dish descriptions, or other information displayed in the App.

7. Location Data

The App uses your device's location to show nearby dishes. By using the App, you consent to the collection and use of location data as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RATEPLATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
