This Privacy Policy describes how RatePlates (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares your information when you use our mobile application (“App”).

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email address. Apple may provide a private relay email address on your behalf.

1.2 User Content

Photos you upload, dish names, and restaurant selections you make.

1.3 Location Data

With your permission, we collect your device's location to show nearby dishes and to associate uploads with restaurant locations. If you decline location access, you may enter a zip code as an alternative.

1.4 Usage Data

We collect information about how you interact with the App, including swipe actions (save/skip), favorites, and search queries. This data is used to improve the App experience.

1.5 Device Information

Basic device information may be collected for analytics and debugging purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the App
• Show you dishes near your location
• Display your uploaded photos and content to other users
• Track your saved dishes and preferences
• Improve and develop new features
• Ensure the safety and integrity of the platform

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 Public Content

Your uploaded photos, dish names, and the restaurants you associate them with are visible to all App users. Your account name may be displayed alongside your contributions.

3.2 Service Providers

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase (database hosting and authentication)
• Google Places API (restaurant search)
• Apple Sign In (authentication)

These providers may process your data in accordance with their own privacy policies.

3.3 No Selling of Data

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase's cloud infrastructure. We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information, but no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Photo Metadata

When you upload a photo, we strip EXIF metadata (including GPS coordinates, camera information, and timestamps) from the image before storage. Only the processed image is stored.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except for content that has been shared publicly (uploaded photos and dish information), which may persist in accordance with the content license in our Terms of Service.

7. Your Rights

You may:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and personal data
• Withdraw location permissions at any time through your device settings

8. Children's Privacy

RatePlates is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App.
